Course Description:
This course will present an in-depth analysis of four or five major issues confronting our world.
Course Objectives/Goals
1. Efforts at world order and international cooperation.
2. The role of nationalism or revolutions of independence.
3. The key issues of the Cold War.
4. The basic concepts relating to population growth and development.
5. The conflict between the developed and developing nations of the world.
6. Prejudice and race hatred.

TEXTS/READINGS: Due to the nature of this course, a variety of articles, mini-texts, etc. may be used. This includes the text, Facing History and Ourselves Resource Book (1994, Facing History and Ourselves National Foundation, Inc.)

Grading/Assessment Standards
The grade in this class is composed of the following areas...
20% Notebook, 20% Quizzes & Special Assignments, 45% Tests, and 15% Participation
Students will receive a sheet further explaining the grading system, including participation.

3. Be a cooperative, contributing member of class
4. Show respect for yourself and others
5. Turn in neat, completed assignments on time
Note: This course involves a lot of reading involving some pretty complex issues. It is essential that students stay caught up with assignments and ask for assistance when needed.
